Remember this is the time of year to ride the Polar Express, the train ride based on the movie "Polar Express". There is hot chocolate and cookies and the highlight is a Visit from Santa when the train reaches the North Pole. Please see events for more details.

Why was the V & T built? Who built it? What did it cost? There were no other railroads in the area so how do you get steam engines to Virginia City in 1869? Why do we want to rebuild it now? Who will benefit from the reconstruction?
 There are lots of questions and lots of history too. Apparently the question of “Is it possible?” never came up, or maybe it was just ignored. Virginia City had a problem to solve, they listed all the obstacles, and then they built a railroad; in less than a year!
